1. According to the requirements of the sample conditions. For the impact resilience hardness test, there is generally a minimum requirement for the thickness and weight of the sample. You can start with the sample itself and choose the appropriate hardness test scale. For the indentation hardness test, the hardness of the same sample, different test scales have different minimum thickness of the sample. In addition, the size and shape of the sample, the condition of the surface of the sample, etc. may be selected as the hardness test scale. Important conditions.

2. According to technical requirements. The hardness test after manufacturing the finished product may face different problems, such as the ability of the test piece to withstand the test force and the deformation of the force, and whether the indentation left by the test affects the performance of the product. Sometimes some modifications must be made. It is recommended to use as little or no hardness as possible, because each accurate and reliable hardness conversion relationship must be accompanied by very strict qualification conditions, which is difficult to fully achieve in practical applications. If these conditions are ignored, the resulting conversion value may have no value. Try to test the same hardness scale with the drawings or technical requirements of the test piece in order to have the best comparability. Of course, the provisions of drawings or technical conditions are not necessarily omnipotent, because they are generally proposed according to design requirements, and many of them only follow the hardness test method of raw materials.

3. According to the sample material. Different types of materials or different materials in different heat treatment conditions have the most suitable test scale. The hardness tester should be selected according to the type or state of the material. There are also many types of materials that have formed a relatively rigid tradition of hardness testing, and adhering to these customary methods as much as possible may make the resulting hardness values more practical. Sometimes the most suitable hardness test method can be easily understood from the technical standards of this material.

4. According to the hardness range. Selling various hardness test methods or scales has their own measurement effective range. Exceeding this range may cause the measurement accuracy to drop significantly or cause damage to the hardness tester.
